until Robots clean our oceans - it's our job

Our vision is to strive to better understand our environment, preserve and improve our precious blue planet.

Our Team

Our amazing team consists of Students, Educators, Scientists, Industry Leaders, Conservationists and regular and part-time volunteers.  We are all committed to making a difference in our oceans and watersheds. We take our convictions and turning them into action. Think you would be a good fit? Come join us.

Executive Director: Joseph Brinkmann (Finance/Planning Administration)

25 years of executive level corporate Accounting, Finance and Planning management

Director:  Kimberly Brinkmann (Grants/Outreach)

25 years of extensive corporate Contract Management and Volunteer Coordination efforts.

Research Director:  John Adams (Computational/Coordination Research)

A Physicist for more than 25 years. His focus study is on the rise in global temperatures and the effects on biological and environmental systems. Our role in the global climate change is undeniable and through mitigation techniques we may be able to minimize our impact on the Earth’s environment. John is very interested in seeing the impact of global environmental change and the study of invertebrate oceanic life is a great indicator, providing essential data regarding our ever-changing environment. John holds a Masters of Science, Colorado State University, Bachelors of Science Arizona State University.

Research Assistant:  Mirabelle Adams (Scientific Technique/Gathering)

Several years of experimental controlled microscopic fresh water based single cell organism's study and genetic oriented research.

Our History

Seeing that jellies have been overlooked for research and conservation we formed a nonprofit to fundamentally better understand these creatures. Established in 2019 and inspired by the awe that they bring. We are determined to unlock the mystery of the evolutionary succuss of the Jellyfish.

Our Mission

Oceanic IRI's goal is to educate, inspire, research, and lead a conservatory role in the offshore habitats of marine invertebrates around the worlds coastal waters where human activities are impacting their natural habitats.

Regional Cleanup Efforts

Regional Cleanup Efforts

Since our inception, our volunteers have been determined to clean and prevent coastal pollution.

Oceanic IRI has been working on the problem of marine debris since our inception in 2019. Our focus is on both populated and unpopulated waterways. We are deploying multiple approaches to the problem:

Prevention (education),

Remediation (cleanup),

Innovation (data-based research).

Education & Research

Regional Cleanup Efforts

Regional Cleanup Efforts

Knowledge is powerful in the fight to keep our oceans viable for future generations.  Our collective knowledge helps us drive a better future.  Oceanic IRI is dedicated on teaching everyone that loves our seas how we are all interrelated: Land, Seas, and Sky.

Our education programs include K-12, University and Industrial needs, all designed to spur new innovative approaches to help solve our oceans and coasts challenging issues. We are data driven at heart and share all our finding for all to research.

Bridging Industry

Regional Cleanup Efforts

Bridging Industry

Invertebrates (especially Jellyfish) are affecting our coastlines and seas. Industries, including; Tourism, Fisheries, Power Plants, Desalination Facilities, Agriculture, Medicine, Cosmetics & Nouvelle Cuisine all have a stake in the welfare of healthy oceans and coastlines.  Oceanic IRI is gathering global data to gain a better understanding how invertebrates are affecting our vital commercial operations.

Our efforts are to cooperate with inter-agencies and industries to better predict and track damaging jellyfish and algal blooms.
